According to SHAHEDNEWS, Individuals aged 26 to 64 should get 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, and any amount less or more than this can cause health problems.

1. Weight Gain

Research has shown that those who sleep less than 5 hours a night tend to gain weight more quickly and are more likely to become obese. Similarly, those who sleep more than 9 hours are also at risk for weight gain.

2. Dark Circles Under the Eyes

Although lack of sleep is often blamed for dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, sleeping more than 9 to 10 hours a night can have a similar effect.

Too much sleep can have similar effects. This is because spending more than 8 hours sleeping disrupts the body’s ability to restore its water balance, which can lead to premature wrinkles and sagging skin.

7. Acne

Chronic sleep deprivation can cause acne. Lack of sleep increases cortisol levels, the stress hormone, in the body. This can lead to an overproduction of oil by the skin’s sebaceous glands, which causes clogged pores and acne.

8. Depression

Excessive sleep can increase the risk of depression. Although lack of sleep is commonly linked to depression, studies show that oversleeping is prevalent among those who are depressed, and this can worsen the symptoms of depression.

9. Headaches

Too much sleep can disrupt serotonin production, which can lead to headaches. Additionally, excessive sleep can cause back pain or worsen existing back problems.
