SHAHEDNEWS: At least a soldier has been killed and several others sustained injuries after Israel launched airstrikes in the Syrian capital Damascus and the central province of Homs.
According to SHAHEDNEWS, At least one soldier has been killed, and several others have been injured following Israeli airstrikes in Syria's capital, Damascus, and the central province of Homs.
Early Thursday morning, Israeli airstrikes targeted two sites in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood of Damascus, including a residential building, as well as a military position in the Homs countryside. According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, the attacks began around 3:40 a.m., coming from the occupied Syrian Golan and northern Lebanon.
The military source reported that the airstrikes resulted in the death of one military personnel and injured seven others. Additionally, the strikes caused significant material damage.
In related news, the death toll from Israeli strikes in Syria’s central Hama province has risen to 14, increasing from an earlier count of five dead and 19 wounded.
During a United Nations Security Council meeting, Syrian Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak criticized the United States for its support of Israel. He stated that the region has suffered from Israeli occupation and attacks for over seventy years. Al-Dahhak urged the U.S. to stop providing arms to Israel, saying that these actions undermine the security and stability of the region and harm its people.
Since the start of Israel's ongoing conflict in Gaza on October 7 last year, there have been numerous air raids and artillery strikes on Syria. The Israeli government rarely comments on these attacks, which are often seen as reactions to Syria's efforts to combat terrorism.
The Syrian government has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council to intervene and stop these attacks, which it views as violations of its sovereignty.
