SHAHEDNEWS: Making canned tuna at home is not only cost-effective but also allows you to adjust the flavor and quality to your liking. Read below for the recipe on how to make homemade tuna.
According to SHAHEDNEWS, Tuna is a popular ready-to-eat food that only takes 20 minutes to boil. This is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of time to cook. Tuna is made from the hover fish, a well-known fish in the southern regions and the Persian Gulf. Due to the rising price of canned tuna, making it at home can be more economical.
In this cooking tutorial, we will show you how to make homemade tuna with three different and combined flavors so you can enjoy this delicious dish.
Ingredients | Quantity |
Hover tuna fish | 750 grams |
Lemon | 1 piece |
Olive oil | Sufficient amount |
Bell pepper | 1 piece |
Vegetable oil | Sufficient amount |
Pitted olives | 10 pieces |
Onion | 2 pieces |
Garlic | 1 bulb |
Black pepper, salt, garlic powder, coriander seeds, onion powder | To taste |
First, sterilize three clean glass jars by placing them in boiling water for about 5 minutes.
Next, evenly divide the boneless tuna fish fillets into the jars.
Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Cut the lemons in half, remove the seeds, and slice them into rings of your preferred thickness.
Cut the bell pepper in half, remove the seeds, and chop it into strips or cubes.
Peel the garlic cloves and slice or chop them as desired.
In a separate bowl, mix olive oil, vegetable oil, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Pour this mixture into the jars to ensure the ingredients are fully covered by the oil.
Fill a large pot with water, ensuring it is enough to cover the jars up to the jar lids.
Place the pot on low heat and allow it to simmer for 2 hours. The heat should be low enough for the water to gently bubble but not boil vigorously.
Remove the pot from the heat and let the jars cool slowly.
Once the jars are completely cool, you can store them in the fridge.
Your homemade tuna is now ready to enjoy.
Always use hover tuna fillets for better quality and flavor.
If the jar lids are tightly sealed and there is no air inside, you can safely store homemade tuna in the fridge for up to 3 months.
The pieces of tuna should not be too large or too small to maintain their texture during cooking.
Once you open the jar, consume the homemade tuna within two days while it’s still fresh.
Make sure the jars are completely filled and there is no empty space at the top.
Use glass jars to preserve the flavor and ensure the food's safety.
During cooking, the heat should be very low so that the water simmers gently and does not boil too aggressively.
